Tuvaoes - Vermentino di Sardegna (DOC) 2005 - Giovanni Cherchi

Last week I was back in Sardinia. On vacation, and showing my wife where I had been hiding until she met me.

An important task before travelling from Sardinia is to shop for some good wine. Now that the summer is approaching here in the northern hemisphere, I feel a certain urge to drink white wine. And the vermentino grapes are among my summer favourites, so we brought (among other things) a bottle of Tuvaoes 2005 from Giovanni Cherchi with us from Sardinia.

After a few days delay (apparently Air One only brings you One bag per day), a delivery arrived from the airport with the wine case. The case had been hit badly, but the bottles had survived, and once the Tuvaoes had been cooled to a decent temperature we opened it.

We were not disappointed after the long wait. Cherchi makes a really good vermentino. It is definitely worth buying if you happen to be in Sardinia. And buy a full case, not just a single bottle.

Altogether it is a good, representative Sardinian white wine. Excellent as a summer drink or aperitif.
